When I had windows vista, I would get all kinds of viruses and bugs, but ever since I got windows 7 I have not gotten one virus, cookie, or anything. Would a free anti virus be sufficient for me? I was looking at the free avast antivirus and the “microsoft security essentials” one. Are these programs legit?

MSE is legit and a good program if you are a careful user on the web. Combine it with Malwarebytes and you’ll have very good protection from virus & malware.

Try downloading CCleaner or Norton ( I recommend CCleaner ) and clean your Pc; it will get it out .

I used to have the AdAware by Lavasoft and Spybot Search and Destroy (I heard once that using two anti-spyware systems is best) and used them alternatively. Is this a good way to go or does anyone someone have some better suggestions? A tech also installed on my old computer a Malbytes anti-spyware, or something like that.

COMODO Internet Security FREE version…

AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy are very good too but they not good at protecting you.They are good for scanning/removal.

If you have to go free then AVG is the best. They have both a paid and free version and the free version is pretty good. It protects from everything. Also, AVG is widely known so it’s a safe bet. Don’t go google ‘free antivirus’ and download the first thing on a sketchy website and actually download a virus.

PS, email me for a copy of AVG paid version. I have one I don’t use actually. I just remembered this.

Computer monitoring does not sound good. Adware is normal unless you get Firefox with the Ad Block add on.You will get no more ads with this in place. I use and recommend AVG Internet Security,, it has to be paid for but will let nothing in, Anti Virus, Anti Spyware, Anti Spam,Firewall, Link Scanner, Resident Shield, Family Safety, Live Kive, Email Scanner,Update Manager, Online Shield,Anti Rootkit, System Tools, PC Analyser, have to pay extra for this, not much use anyway, Identity Protection. Number of people currently protected by AVG100 million
Number of threats AVG identify and stop every 30 days3 billion
