This notebook PC is powered by the 2.16 GHz dual-core Intel Pentium T3400, which provides simple multitasking capabilities. The Basics
- Processor: The 2.16 GHz Intel Pentium T3400 dual-core processor delivers additional computing resources and help expand the PC’s capabilities by providing higher throughput and simultaneous computing. You’ll be able to perform multiple tasks such as digital rendering and gaming all while running virus scan or other background tasks seamlessly. And its Intel 64 architecture is also ready for tomorrow’s 64-bit applications, and offers enhanced performance through improved virtual reminiscence. Each core shares 2 MB of L2 cache, and they have a 667 MHz front-side bus. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a better L2 cache can help speed up your system’s performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a quicker front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
- Hard Drive: The 160 GB hard drive (5400 RPM) offers enough to room to hold a digital audio library of over 26,000 songs and still have room left over for movies, games, and a large collection of software. This Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data–akin to Firewire and USB 2.0.
- Reminiscence: The 2 GB of installed RAM (PC2-6400, 1 x 2 GB, 2 x 1 GB) is a fantastic start. This notebook has a 4 GB most RAM capacity (2 x 2 GB). To receive the quicker data transfer benefits of the dual-channel DDR2 RAM, any RAM additions require reminiscence modules of same capacity and clockspeed.
- DVD/CD Drive: The dual-layer Labelflash DVD drive is compatible with a wide range of formats, including both DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs, CD-RW discs, and dual-layer (DL) DVD±R discs, which can hold up to 8.5 GB of data–fantastic for backing up your MP3 collection or your most vital ID. It features the following speeds: 6x for both DVD±R DL, 8x for both single-layer DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 5x DVD-RAM, and 24x/16x for CD-R/RW. It reads DVD-ROM discs at 8x and CD-ROMs at 24x.
- Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a standard 86-key keyboard and electro-static two-button touchpad. It also offers a launch button for the Express CD/DVD media player and control buttons (play, stop, next, previous) as well as a volume control dial.

I have this laptop for 2 weeks already and I am really glad because this helps me in my work and study. This laptop look simple but the way it functions is really quick. One of my students dropped this laptop from my desk but lo and behold nothing happened. I had it check just to make sure but everything is perfect! Incredible! So durability wise its so excellent. Its quick with the internet. Picks up wi-fi so quick. The webcam is ok too. The picture resolution when I play dvd or from online is very clear. The design is just right. The touch pad is amazingly charming. Its not sensitive but just right. Outlook is excellent in this laptop. Before I forget, this laptop doesn’t get hot quick on my lap. Brilliant! It runs silent too. All in all I don’t have any problem with this.
Toshiba laptops have a huge time power plug issue (internal power jack pulls away from housing preventing plug insertion). Mine failed within 4 months of use. It is a obvious design problem which Toshiba continues to ignore. Type in Toshiba Laptop Problems in Yahoo search engine. Its a problem that will NOT go away. Too terrible…besides this issue it’s not a terrible machine. Consumer support is way terrible!!!
This laptop is nice. It’s a small heavier than I probable but I guess the only way to get one that’s not heavy is to buy a small tiny one. One thing I don’t like about this laptop is the battery only lasts 2 hrs or so. It didn’t say anything about battery life on the description when I bought it.
This is really my first Toshiba, the first Laptop I have ever bought and really the first computer I have ever bought. I am an IT administrator and we can make anything work and usually take hand me downs. My Dell was getting long in the tooth so I was looking to replace it. I didn’t want to spend a boat load of money so I did some investigate and found this laptop. Toshiba Laptops have a very excellent track record so I chose on this one. Let me tell you this is a nice laptop. Setup was quick and painless and it is nice performing machine.

I bought this product as a replacement for my Sony VAIO that I been by for 7 years. I’ve been by it for three weeks now and I find it cheaply made. For one, one of the key is not working. Second, it gets sratch so easily. I’ve taken it overseas this past few week and had to find alternate computer to use because “A” keyboard letter sticks. I guess you get what you paid for.
