This model is very excellent for the price, First off the screen size is gorgeous and is fantastic for surveillance movies has enough RAM and processing power to do picture and home video editing. Stays cool for the size I thought it would be a very hot running laptop but im glad it stays so cool while surveillance a movie and other high processing programs.
Full keyboard is fantastic for typing up a blog or a review in this case.
The battery life is nearly 2 hours on balanced power settings
The Cons – On this system is on the speakers they are not excellent at all I am a disappointed but I guess you can’t get everything you want. I do not like the volume control they should have place a button on the media panel they got Power/Play/Skip/Mute but no volume.
Toshiba loads a lot of Junkware It took me an hour to clean it out before I may possibly use it.
Toshiba offers an upgrade to Windows 7 but wants $12 dollars shipping and handling.
Very excellent value for it’s price.

What I like in this laptop:
- huge show and “half-FullHD” resolution
- fullsize keybord
- LabelFlash in DVDROM-drive
- porcessor speed
- reminiscence size
- hi-speed WiFi
- possibility to play Fallout3!
What I don’t like:
- not enough video system perfomance
- web-cam perfomance and resolution
- a waste of time face-recognition system
- MSFT Outlook Premium Home (not user frendly OS, requires a lot of time to setup and customizae it)
Still have a problems with this OS.

My Toshiba Satellite blue screened on me and I was told by Toshiba that I may possibly drop it off at a local authorized repair center. I did this and was told it would take about three days. Two days later the repair center called me and told me that Toshiba will not allow them to work on Satellite Computers and that they had to send the computer to Toshiba, I said okay. Two days after that the repair center called again and told me that now Toshiba will not even allow them to send it back. I will have to drive to the repair center pick up my defective computer call consumer service and order a box. It takes two, to three business days for the box to arrive, you then have to place the computer into the box and send it to Toshiba, where it will arrive in another two to three days, then you have to map it will take another two or possibly more days for them to repair the computer and then another two to three business days for the computer to arrive at your doorstep. So if you can go without your laptop for over a week then you will have no problem with Toshiba’s new repair policy for its Satellite computers.
This notebook was for my wife, whose previous one completely died. We tested a similar Toshiba at a major retail store, and she liked the screen size, high resolution, and full-size keyboard. This particular system shares those characteristics. The hardware, while not the absolute latest and greatest, is more than enough for her needs and is still bounty prospect-proof.
Once out of the box, I powered up the machine to make sure it was functional then immediately proceeded to install Windows 7 on it, mostly to get rid of the balloon/shovelware that’s so prevalent on OEM systems. Toshiba has a nearly complete set of Windows 7-compatible drivers on its support web site. The only thing it lacks is some sort of software to control a few of the keyboard functions. For example, the wireless on/off switch, which uses a amalgamation of the fn key + one of the function keys, is not working. I would have preferred a hardware switch, but that’s a very insignificant complaint.
Overall, this is a solid notebook for the money.
I am editing this review. I rated it 4 star, instead of 5, because of an error in the description. Amazon quickly corrected the error (the Hard Drive is 250 gb, not 320 gb), but I can’t exchange the stars to 5. No matter. 4 stars is enough because, recently, I’ve had several problems with several Toshibas. Having said that, I’ve owned a couple dozen notebooks of all kinds, and still reflect Toshiba is, overall, the most reliable and dependable. A Toshiba rep (who is not in their computer section) told me, “I share the same sentiment with you about our laptops; as a small aside I worked for a while as a computer technician before I joined the Toshiba team, and one of the reasons I was excited to be a part of the team was because in my two years of working on various computers and laptops Toshiba’s I found were by far the most resilient and simple to work on as well.”
So back to the original review:
I own several Toshibas but not this one…. I like my Toshibas. I’ve had problems but overall they beat the others I’ve had (Sony, Sharp–in the ancient days, IBM, Lenovo, Dell, HP).
One VERY frustrating thing about new Toshibas is the volume control. Two of the last ones I bought, a year apart, had the exact same problem when new, so it must be a common problem that Toshiba chooses to ignore. The small thumb dial just spins and spins any direction but does not affect volume at all–or logically. I can spin it and volume may do nothing, or it may go up or down at random, even if on occasion, just to keep me on my toes, it will work normally (even if rarely). Also, my Toshibas tend to get very hot, and the fans have burned out on a couple. Frustrating, and it has happened enough that I know that Toshiba must be aware of these problems, and austerely does not bother with them. And another issue that Toshiba had on one model (just one, even if) was that I may possibly not get it back out of sleep mode. But, recent Windows updates seem to have resolved that.
But having said all that, I’ve had at least two dozen laptops/notebooks (is there a difference?), including an early sewing machine gas plasma screen model that weighed 15 pounds (folks at UCLA said, “Wow! So small!”), and an early Toshiba that had no hard drive, just two 3.25 inch drives, and a screen with no backlight that had to be directly under a tropical sun to view (that really dates me, eh?). And overall, the Toshibas have been more reliable than any other brand I’ve bought. No brand is on 100% of the time, so I’m not surprised at a few of the upset reviewers. But I’ve not had any of the huge problems other reviewers have written about, and I have never expected a Toshiba that did not work find right out of the box–except for that flaming volume control. And even if I did, I’m confident in Toshiba consumer service (it has always been very prompt and professional, helping me even with computers out of warranty).
