Jump Lists
New in Windows 7, Jump Lists take you right to the ID, pictures, songs, or websites you turn to each day. To open a Jump List, just right-click a program icon on the Windows 7 taskbar. About the sound: you can increase sound DRAMATICALLY if you follow this steps:

November 21 Review Actualization
Well, it has been nearly a month since I bought my T135 and I can say I like this small Titan.
Pros:
-LIGHTWEIGHT
-Powerful. With Windows 7 64 journal, I can get as much performance as a my other Core 2 Duo Toshiba Sattellite A135 laptop.
- I can get 9 hours plus of battery life (Eco Mode). As per the other person stating that he can get only 4 hours of battery life, that is in full power mode. Try to get 4 hours of battery life at full power from any other machine and you will fail miserably
- Fantastic Graphics
- Fantastic sound if you do as I stated above:
- Wifi 802.11N!!! I mean, I an get my 802.11N signal from some 200 meters in my backyard!!!
- Gorgeous looks

I have edited video and composition (iTunes and a couple of DVD rippers) and it does them in a couple of minutes
- IT’S a TOSHIBA!!!!
- Video conferencing (Skype and Messenger) it’s really excellent, although the camera it’s only 1.3 megapixels
- After 10 hours of use, at full power, it barely gets warm. You can place it on your bag straight away
- Ultra Low Voltage means Ultra Low Energy Consumption. I mean guys, we have to be environmentally conscious. This babe just uses 19V of energy at full power, down to 8-10 Volts at Eco Mode.
NEUTRAL
- I despise on every laptop (no matter what brand) the touch pads. I always use an external mouse.
CONS
- You can do a fingerprint exam on the laptop. I do not know why it gets so finger dirty (and judge me, I wash my hands very often). I bought a GelySkin for the exterior and it’s a fantastic add-on
Hope this review is usefull
The T135-S1310 has been fantastic and really fits what I needed. I wanted more than a crappy netbook but also did not want a super bleeding edge $2K notebook. Full size keyboard was really a plus and I am sure glad a spent a small more for something completely useful.
The S1310 uses the new ultra low power dual-core Pentium processor and scores 932 on Passmark. The laptop runs quicker than my two year ancient Core Duo.
The size of the new screens is fantastic and 13″ is a right pleased medium. These also make the overall machine size shallow so you have room on an airplane.
The end is really cool looking but fingerprints abound on the lid, inside and even the keyboard – whatever!
Keyboard works pretty well if you are a soft touch typist and the keyboard layout is just fine with lots of reused keys to get all the functions. In one review there was no ‘hardware’ volume control (there is FN+3 / FN+4)
Screen is very glossy like many are now. I have not owned a glossy screen laptop before and I find it somewhat irritating when sitting with a window at my back – its tolerable but I choose where I sit.
Preloaded software was minimal and getting the laptop stripped of all the superfluous junk was a small task. Once complete a set of back-up disks were made per the instructions.
I rarely if ever use a CD/DVD so this suite me well – not having to suffer the weight penalty. I bought a ‘LG GP08 Lite’ which self-installed with Win 7 – I never used the software built-in and it was up and operating in minutes to burn back-up / restore media. [I did not hold the Toshiba external device due to terrible reviews]
Making of back-up media was flawless by the Toshiba utilities.
Bluetooth seems to work fantastic – you will want a portable mouse and my Logitech was connected easily to the T135-S1310.
Wireless N is much appreciated for both range and speed.
The touchpad like articulated in other reviews is not the best effort and way worse than my 5 year ancient laptop this replaced. My first T135-S1310 I returned for several reasons and the touchpad had serious latency [but not one of the reasons it was returned.] The replacement on which I am drafting this does not appear to suffer the same problem. The two were probably made on the same day in the factory and have the same drivers but even in eco mode it is responsive. The buttons are very hard to press and a tap on the touchpad is better than trying to use the mechanical switch.
Audio sucked at first – I did raise the graphic equalizer in “Smart Audio” / Smart EQ but this is just a work around for a terrible driver that hopefully will be updated. [UPDATE 12/13/2009 - New Conexent Audio Driver Released, upgrade to rev. 4.98.16.61 and the sound seems fine to me. I have been surveillance a lot of video lately with the speakers and find it fine]
My first T135-S1310 had a couple of operational issues. The key one was flakey Wi-Fi. It would not stay connected to my D-Link 615 [Wireless N] while every other device in my household would….weird. Anyhow this replacement is working fine.
Toshiba Consumer Service – For addressing the above issues, troubleshooting and resolution of obtaining a new machine locally at the vendor was just fine: they did not call me back as promised, but when I called they had all the 2nd or 3rd tier support notes and praise to return the unit for replacement: hassle free.
Sleep Mode – The machine comes to life very quick and gets re-connected to the network before you can log yourself into Windows. Contrary to other reports posted here mine recovers and connects to the WLAN in seconds.
Form-factor is really fantastic. The sloped or wedge design and lip from the battery give you something to safely rip and hand on to this glossy carbon fiber looking masterpiece: if you had wet or oily hands it is likely to slip out if you are not precise. Also it makes it very simple to pull out from your briefcase / laptop bag as you have something to really hang on to. I got a fantastic small Sumdex bag for $17 which fits it fantastic and has just enough room for a file folder or two, some paper and the charger + travel mouse.
Also on form factor, these laptops are just slightly better than a page of (US) paper. What does this mean? It is essentially the same size as file folder which means you can fit a couple file folders, tablet of paper etc. in your tiny laptop bag and possibly only carry one thing with you.
Other Ports – Not yet tested / used except the USB port has worked fantastic as does the MiniSD reminiscence card reader.
So far I score this machine reasonably high. I like the form-factor, performance is just fine, Wireless N is fantastic to have, screen is fantastic, battery life is brilliant. My only complaints which are insignificant are that its hard to keep clean (looking) due to fingerprints, the audio is marginal at best [better after new driver release from Toshiba], touchpad and related buttons should be better in 2009.
I do recommend this type of machine to those looking to not waste $3-475 for a pure netbook with a Atom processor (Passmark +- 300) and step up to a Netbook+ for a small amount more and get real performance AND fantastic battery life. Spend the superfluous to get a dual core processor too and avoid the similar computers with the other processors like the SU2700 etc.
The laptop is awesome with few drawbacks not already noted (glassy surface = fingerprints all over). The battery life is fantastic, screen fantastic, keyboard a small slick but adaptable. My huge issue is with Toshiba support. It took me nearly a month to convince them that the machine had a defective wireless card and/or antenna out of the box. I should note that I did all of the troubleshooting for them and if I didn’t know my way around the technology wonder if I would still be by a machine that only connected when 2 feet from an access top.
Eventually I was bumped up to “Level III” tech support after about three weeks, but they never called me back. I then had to go back to check one and basically demand that they clear the way for me to ship it to the depot for repairs. The machine went out the next day by their shipping partner (UPS) on 11/19 and I am still waiting for its return. I have twice called Toshiba support, had to go through a whole litany of questions before they transfer me to the Repair Depot, and then I get to wait on hold for 25 – 35 minutes before I give in, leave my call back number, and of course NEVER GET A CALL BACK.
UPDATE: I finally got through to talk with a depot technician, and was told that they didn’t have any the replacement wireless card or antenna in stock and that it may possibly be another 10 days before they can make the repairs. Now I have been on hold with their consumer support for over 30 minutes, as I try to get my warranty extended since the machine has basically been a waste of time for the first 1 1/2 months. This is my first Toshiba, and I can only equate to IBM/Lenovo and Dell support, which run circles around what I am experiencing now with Toshiba.
Bottom line = fantastic machine if it works, but get ready for abysmal service if things go incorrect
Before I write this review I do have to comment about the “low audio” problems people been having. You don’t need to go to the Smart Audio attention you can do it within your sound preferences. Right click your sound icon in the taskbar and choose Playback Devices, click on Speakers within the Playback tab then click Properties near the bottom of the window. Choose the Enhancements tab then choose Loudness Equalization. Or you can download the new massive 157mb driver from Toshiba and that should do the trick too.
My reason for buying this computer is to have something larger than a netbook for some superfluous horsepower and screen but something small enough that I can take anywhere with ease. I’m hoping to keep this small enough but there is a lot to take in and I won’t be writing about every feature…
Battery
The battery life on this machine is fantastic. I’ve got a small over 7 hours on Eco mode while doing some heavy internet surfing, some downloading and machine configuration and about 10 you tube vids. I’ve also tested surveillance video only in Eco mode with wifi off and I achieved 6.5 hours of video playback!!! By far i’m pleased with this small machines performance.
Touchpad
I’m not sure what there is to say about this but i’ve had NO problems whatsoever on it. It seems accurate enough for me that i’m not craving for a mouse. The rocker style buttons underneath the touchpad did take me a small amount of time to get used to as you need to click more than half way from the center to register a click. But that is a non issue for me as you too will get used to it.
Webcam
I’m super pleased with it. My skype calls were super clear on the other end. My skype buddy mentioned that it was like looking through glass like i was in the room. Perfect!!
Wireless
Again i’m super pleased about the range and quality of my wireless N network. There is no where on my property that I can’t go that I can’t delight in the bliss of the internet. This small badboy even picked up other signals as well with ease which is perfect for when you’re on a trip and you need to “borrow” signals from hotels or other unsecured hotspots to access info.
Graphics
It’s integrated…enough said. Plays everything I throw at it including an HD movie that I ripped. I couldn’t comment about online HD playback even if. Obviously it isn’t a gaming machine so people reflect before you judge this machine cause it can’t play Crysis at full settings…or even medium…or possibly not at all.
Keyboard
Its a keyboard. It works. It has all the keys you need. The keys have a glossy end on them but it’s a non issue for me. I can type honestly quick and I was flying out of the gate. With anything there is a bit of a learning curve so give it a chance before you judge it.
I may possibly go on and on about all the features on this machine (excellent and terrible) but really i’m not that attracted in writing a novel, lol. And i’m sure I missed a bunch of features that do deserve to be written about but the plain simple truth is that they all work well.
Are there things I don’t like about it?? As with anything people won’t be perfectly satisfied and want to have something to gripe about. Sure it leaves fingerprints (as with most things), sure it has a glossy screen which is hard to see in the daytime (find some shade), and the viewing angle is so-so (but really why would you be by the computer at an angle anyhow???), sure it won’t make you dinner and clean up after you (but as soon as that model comes out, i’ll be first in line!!)
So the jist of this review is – everything works well, it’s cheap, go buy it.
I bought this computer about a month ago. Note that if you happen to have any problems with the computer, you will receive NO help from Toshiba. One of the things I always do with my computers is make recovery media. The computer comes loaded with Toshiba software that allows you to make recovery media; but, for whatever reason, the program that was installed on this computer runs into an error and aborts after nearly nearly finishing the first recovery disk. As a result, I check the box to see if the computer came with any recovery media. This computer comes loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit but the recovery media they sent me in the box was Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. Normally I would not have cared but since I couldnt make the recovery media through the computer, I chose to call Toshiba to get the right disks mailed to me. WHAT A MISTAKE. Their consumer service is SLOW and inept. First I spoke with a representative who listened to the problem and then told me I must register my computer by calling a different number. So I did that. Then I called consumer service back, who then told me I would have to pay shipping and handling for the disks to be mailed to me. I found this improper, so then they transferred me (after a long wait of course) to their consumer relations department. There I spoke with their “administrator,” Alyca, who told me after putting me on hold, again, that since I bought the computer through Amazon and not Toshiba, they cannot send me the proper recovery media. The only way they would send me the proper media would be if I paid them a $25 shipping and handling fee. Her claim was that Amazon sent me the inexact computer. This obviously does not make sense since the computer model number is right and the computer itself is preloaded with the CORRECT operating system (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit), its just that the recovery media built-in in the box is not. Someone delight clarify to me Toshiba’s lack of any logical thought. Obviously, the box had the right computer but had the inexact recovery media built-in. Rather than correcting their mistake, they tried to pawn it off. After reading some of the other reviews, I guess their lack of consumer service is not anything new. The computer works, but be aware that you are taking a chance, because if anything is not how it should be, Toshiba will not help you. BUY THE COMPUTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.
