I bought this for use with a new OEM install of Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. At the time Win 7 had only been released for 3 days. From reading the instructions at [...] I knew that I should download the latest version from them to install, rather than use the version on the install CD. The install went very smoothly. Because Win 7 was groundbreaking new, there were some initial problems with the firewall part of the program and I may possibly not use my desktop as a print server. I e-mailed tech support several times and always got a answer the next morning. The installation of a second generation firewall from ESET solved my problem. I also installed the program on two computers running XP sp-3 and these installations went very smoothly. The minimal use of system resources is truly fantastic. I did a full system scan and it only took 12 minutes.
I realize that this program is a small more expensive than other programs that perform the same function, but it is well worth the superfluous money. My computer completely boots from pushing the button to fully functional (hard drive light goes off) in 56 seconds. I never had that with other internet security programs.
On December 20, 2009 I installed this program on a Windows 7 (64 bit) computer and had no problems. Just remember, that if you download the latest version from ESET and you have a 64 bit attention, be sure and download the 64 bit version.
If there is a drawback, is the “ESET tag” that the program puts on the bottom of all e-mails. Also, the EULA only allows the installation on one hard drive on a computer. If you install it on two hard drives on the same computer, it will count as the use of two licenses.
I have had norton and trend micro all with problems but after a year with eset all is working well it takes a long time to sweep so I do it at nite, but it up dates by it self and does a quick sweep with the update. I have four computers and had no problem installing it at all I have it running on xp/outlook/and 7 and I am a rookie………………………………………
Works well if you can get it to install. I can’t seem to install it on any computer unless I wipe the drive and reinstall everything and I mean everything starting with the O/S. During install it will say there is an error and back itself out. Unfortunately it doesn’t give any clue as to what the error is and I haven’t found an install log or any thing like that. I followed all the instructions. It’s not like I’m a rookie. I was a network admin for years and I now repair network servers for a living. I’ve installed hundreds of programs. Anyhow if you get it to install, it works well and so far it’s not given me any more issues.
The serial number was faulty so I may possibly not install it.
