I don’t like the rental of software…I don’t like intrusive, reminiscence/space-hogging software that slows my systems down…but I’ve tried the others and Norton works best keeping our computers safe!! So, I buy it (or rent it!). We had a virus that paralyzed our business for days because the Norton license expired on one of our machines. We bought the “el cheapo” stuff from from a retail giant thinking we may possibly quickly clean up the mess…worthless! So, we ordered Norton and (knock on wood) we’re still up-and-running. THAT is why I buy Norton.
Symantec has done a fantastic job these past several years since they revamped their malware harvest. It installs quick, is simple to configure, and just stays out of your way, doing the job that it was intended to do without handholding. I despise malware harvest that have to question you if it’s okay to let things do stuff to your system. With proper configuration (simple to do) you can just let Norton handle it. System load is very light. Unless you have a dinosaur of a computer you won’t have problems running this. My only complaint would be that it’s only excellent for one year, and then the protection just stops working. Not only do you not get updates, but you no longer have protection period. Only 4 stars instead of 5 for that one.
When I read the 1-star review and as my subscription on my 2009 ran out, I was a bit skeptical about how the install would go once I bought this 2010. As the 2009 subscription ran out, I noticed there is only an option to renew the subscription online. There isn’t a button for upload new software. So when I entered the new 2010 disk into the drive, I wasn’t surprised when the 2009 program didn’t recognize it! Oh, fantastic… 1-star review was right! Gallingly, I had to uninstall the 2009 first and then upload my 2010. I was a small shocked and annoyed that the program didn’t recognize it and uninstall and upload it involuntarily. So it was an annoying superfluous step. I was a small annoyed but not angered.
The product has a new window appearance. I am guessing it’s the same functionality.
I have had Norton Antivirus forever. But, this year I subscribed for the update, the charge showed up on my visa 3 weeks later, but I had no updates on my computer. I had to stop the charge on my credit card. Now I consistently get notices that I no longer have Norton protection; but I do not trust them any more.
We bought this Norton antivirus 5 user for the computers we have in the household. I have always trusted Norton. My company uses McAfee but I trust Norton with my valuable data.
Amazon offered the best deal we may possibly find in stores or on the internet for multiple users.
