I want to find information about computer recycling. One piece I can not find reliable info on is what percent of computers recycled/donated are able to be refurbished and resold (within the US). The numbers I have found are <2%, 10% and 50%.

i’d guess that 50% or more can be salvaged.
but, it’s extremely hard to find an operating system that will run very well (ie not be slower than a nematode) on older, slower, machines.
i would reflect that there should be a market for an operating system that has less function, and uses less cpu cycles.
unfortunately, such a system may well not be profitable.
a) because people will austerely copy it and not pay, or
b) because people will not find the lack of much of the current function acceptable.
