The outdated ones, my friend, would be the ones that are no longer supported by the Operating System that you’re by on your computer. i.e. ones that don’t have drivers available for your Operating System.

I have a Western Digital Passport external hard drive and I fortuitously formated it while trying to format another disk. Now years worth of data has been lost. Is there anyhow i can bring it back?!

Don’t agonize, as long as it didn’t do a full wipe (would have taken hours) all the data is still there. Immediately take it out of the computer and DO NOT save anything else to this drive otherwise you will start overwriting the ancient data. I don’t personally know or recommend a point piece of software to get it back, but here this video link with instructions force help. (jump to 28:00) http://revision3.com/tekzilla/boxee

Safe Mode and boot into Administrator. From there you exchange accounts. If it’s Outlook, then Administrator account is disabled and needs to be enabled.

Follow that tutorial

Also, in Command Prompt you may possibly try changing the password with Net user “account” *

Net user (Account) *

Then it’ll prompt you for another password. Try doing that. It should work if you do in Safe Mode.

Why am I STILL having laptop power problems!!?

.

Two weeks ago my second laptop charger broke after a mere 6 months, and I bought a replacement. When the replacement came it overheated in less than 10 minutes, so much that when I touched it, I scorched my hand! Plus while charging it would flick from Charging to Not Charging to not
recognised at all!
So I bought yet another replacement. This charger is recognised by my laptop, but no matter what I it still says ‘Plugged in, Not Charging’. It can hold my power, but it still drops by about 1% a day. I scanned my battery, and found it was in need of replacement, so I bought a replacement BATTERY. I then thought neither of the new chargers worked because the battery was faulty.
I have just expected the new battery now (after two weeks!!), and STILL neither of my new chargers work, with the same individual problems as before. I scanned my battery, and it says THIS ONE is in need of replacement too!!
This is getting ridiculous now, as I have wasted a lot of money on a waste of time equipment, and only one is under warranty.
I AM NOT spending ANY more money on this issue unless I know it will work!!
Has anything like this happened to anyone else?? Or possibly is there a fault in my laptop??

I really need advice on what to do. I’m going to PC World tomorrow, but I can’t afford for them to keep my laptop over the weekend for repairs because I have very vital coursework to do!!

I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC (dv6500)

First thing to do is update your BIOS to the latest version. You can get that from HP’s website. If that doesn’t help, you may have an issue with the charging circuit of your laptop.

If you have an anti-virus, make sure it has the latest virus definitions and run a scan with it in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking. That often prevents malware from protecting itself. If you don’t have one, many people here swear by AVG (it’s free).

I suggest you also download Ad-Aware Free and Spybot S&D (they’re free), install them, update them and run them, again in Safe Mode With Networking.

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of terrible stuff that force be lurking there.

To get into Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking:

1.Log out and reboot your machine.
2.When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.
3.Select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking from the resulting menu.
4.Login. If the malware has changed your password, try logging in as Administrator. By defaulting, Administrator has no password.
5.The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different.
6.When you’re finished doing what you need to do, log out and reboot back into normal mode.

Note that even if the anti-malware programs get rid of the malware, they may not be able to reverse the effects. Search the Web for possible fixes.

Update and run everything regularly, not just when you reflect you already have malware.

Excellent luck.
