Thinkpad T61 – Will buying a new hard drive solve the locked hard drive password fiasco for this model?

Friend has found one of these Thinkpad laptops (T61) by way of the garbage… one man’s trash and you all know the rest… We found out that it has what we have heard is the infamous hard drive password… not the Supervisor password. Can he just pop a new hard drive for the model in the machine and solve the problem of the locked out password?

Unfortunately, probably not. The password is likely in the motherboard, and the hard drive is not even being accessed. Perhaps a computer tech can map out a way to erase the password.

hard disk data recovery help!!!?

my hard drive had been corrupted, it doesn’t want to boot and every time i try to repair the windows w/ the windows cd, i get setupdd.sys may possibly not be loaded, so i hooked it up on my other computer and slaved it and its still not recognized and my computer even hangs-up… is there anyhow i can recover my files without going to an expensive specialist? these files are really vital wish someone may possibly give me step-by-step instructions on how to. thanks in advance!

I don’t reflect there is any other way except a professional data retriever, unless you buy the same programs they use.

Websense v10000 SQL Error

I was in the process of setting up a Websense v10000 appliance. The Websense v10000 appliance needs a Windows Server to run a Log Server that keeps statistical information about users web activity. When entering the SQL details into the Websense Log Server setup the following error was experianced:

Websense reporting tools do not work with this version of SQL you have installed. Upgrade to SQL Server 2000 or MSDE 2000.

I know for a fact that both SQL 2005 and 2008 are supported. The Websense documentation states that the Websense setup makes the SQL Websense database involuntarily. Because of this I gave my SQL Websense account “dbcreator” permissions. As a test I attempted giving my Websense account “sysadmin” permissions instead of “dbcreator”. “sysadmin” is like “Domain Admin” rights in the world of SQL, usually a very terrible thing to do as it compromises the security of your SQL server.

After giving the account sysadmin all was fine.

How are Programming Languages made?

I always wondered how Programming Languages are made. Early languages like C, COBOL and Pascal and even modern ones like Java and C#. How are they made?
