I’m selling my ancient laptop and I want to restore factory settings on it and wipe all personal data from it. While trying to perform a system restore by pressing f11, nothing happens. The button doesn’t work and this seems to be caused by several issues for many people. I have recovery disks but I can’t use them because the disc drive is broken in the laptop: another reason I sold it. Any help would be appreciated.
I have an HP Pavilion dv9927cl running Windows 7.

Option two is to use a software file shredding program then shred all the personal files /info and then delete them so they can not be recovered. I use Windows Pro File Wiper and always use the government/military shredding feature but you can find some excellent one for free online.
Option three. Use a external USB CD/DVD optical drive and reinstall Windows 7 by the recovery disc set made for the laptop, borrow or buy one they are not very expensive.
