Is checking hard disk errors any good?

.

I am now having some problems with my PC and I am frequently getting error messages and I was thinking of checking the hard disk for errors and fixing them, is this safe and will it improve the performance of my PC?
Thank you in advance
By the way, I am by Windows Outlook Home Premium

Well depends on how you check it the dos command chkdsk /r fixes a lot of stuff its really shouldn’t. Makes no sence but it helps a lot when its needed. The truth of the matter is if your worried about it check it, and back your stuff up.

my home network has 2 soon to be 3 laptops and 2 desktops that are connected directly to the router. we have 3 printers right now and its getting annoying moving them and transporting them and buying ink so we want to buy one printer (wireless) and have them all print to it… can we do that if some of the printers are connected to the router wirelessly and some by the cable? if so how would that work…

You would treat the wireless printer as another device on your network. In order to send a print job to it, you need to have the printer network (IP) address and viewable to the other devices on your network. In addition, you’ll need to enable network-based printing for your computers.

I’ll assume for a moment that you are by some Windows-based OS. Here’s an example for network printing by Windows XP and an HP printer. You can substitute the directions for the HP printer with the model you have: http://www.wellesley.edu/Computing/WinXP/printing.html

We have a color printer, and people print stuff out all the time that is in color, but doesn’t need to be. We want to make a batch file, or logon speech that makes it so when they have a printer, their defaulting printing is in black and white, not color. In a color printers preferences, there is a pull down option for black & white, or color. We just want it to always defaulting on black and white. And solutions or answers would be appreciated very much!!

Go to your print server and configure your “defaulting” settings at the printer. This will configure your print side/ server side settings and it will apply to all that print by that server.
