Lexmark All-in-One Scanner Jamming?

.

I have a Lexmark x7675 All-in-One printer/scanner/copier/faxing. I’ve had it for a couple years now and recently when I try to scan things, it seems to get jammed. It’ll make this “tick tick tick tick” sound over and over, say “scan failed”, and won’t turn off when I press the power button. I have to unplug it to make the ticking stop. This happens 70% of the time when I try to scan something – it usually takes 2-3+ tries to really get something scanned. Its irritating, to say the least. Couldn’t find any info on this issue online anywhere that I looked, and my dad won’t call anyone for troubleshooting because we can’t afford a repair.
If it helps, I have Windows Outlook and I use the software that came with the scanner, “Lexmark Productivity Studio – 7600 Series”.
Does anyone know why it would be doing this, and if its fixable at home?

It sounds like possibly the scanner mechanism is dirty or worn out. It would have to be opened up so you may possibly get to the mechanism inside and clean the guide rails, check the drive belt and gear pulley for wear or stripped or missing teeth, check the lubrication of the slides to see if it is ancient and needs to be cleaned off and re-lubricated with a very thin and fluid lubricant, check the mechanism alignment and any binding, check for any other wear or obstructions. The main motor may also be terrible and would need to be replaced, even if getting one may be near impossible and the only real solution then would be to get another scanner.

Pain for a week, numbness for a month, and then back to normal.
Every body is different even if. Some people go back to work after 3 days with bruises on pain pills.
That should give you an thought. Question the doctor before the surgery. Best of luck to you, Sweetie! :)

It didn’t happen at first now was the first time it’s work dozens of times before but now i plugged up my ipod touch (2nd gen) to charge it up. I plugged it into my outlook laptop i tunes was opened and my computer froze so I turned it off because i couldn’t do anything and when i turned it on i would get a black screen but the power was on (i plugged in my usb internet card and the green light turned on showing it was on) so after a while i took the battery out popped it right back in and turned it back on this time a screen showed up to and it gave me the option to open windows normally in safe mode or with command prompt i picked normally then it went to a blue screen with a small line of text (can’t remember what it said exactly it looked like random letters and numbers) so i turned it off and turned it back on took me to the option menu but this time it said to run windows repair or something like that or normally I picked repair and then it questioned if i wanted to restore my computer i said yes and then after it finished i finally may possibly use my computer like normal but when i tried to plug in my ipod touch again (wasn’t thinking) i had to go through all of that again but it still finished up working. well anyhow my question is why dose that keep happening?
i should have the latest update but ill re install it
its not the ipod touch it works on my outlook desktop now

HERE’S THE QUESTION, I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAVE THE RIGHT ANSWER FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE QUESTION. BUT FOR THE SECOND PART, CAN’T SEEM TO FIND ANY INFORMATION.

What is an open source code? How does it differ from other types of code?

An open source code is a code that is exposed to everyone for use, it offers accessibility to a software’s code without really having a licence to view it.

Best answer:

Answer by M. L.
The Open Source Initiative ( http://www.opensource.org/docs/osd ) defines it as software that allows:

1. Free Redistribution
2. Access to Source Code
3. Derived Works
4. Integrity of The Author’s Source Code
5. No Discrimination Against Persons or Groups
6. No Discrimination Against Fields of Endeavor
7. Distribution of License

… and is licensed such that it:
1. Is Not Point to a Product
2. Does Not Restrict Other Software
3. Technology-Neutral

For differences, read this article on the difference between open source licenses and EULAs:

http://www.osnews.com/tale/22233/The_Difference_Between_EULAs_and_Open_Source_Licenses

Just having access to the source code does **NOT** make it Open Source. If you aren’t allowed to do anything with that source, but can see it, it is not open source. Microsoft’s RSL is the most common version of this and is called “Shared Source”.

.. Alright so I am buying a late Christmas gift for some friends of mine, who have just come back from London. They have no printer, but have articulated how much they need one. They would like an all-in-one/multifunction printer WITH A FAX. I cannot choose whether to buy HP’s brand of all-in-one printers, or Brother.

.. I now have an HP and have only gone through 2 over 6 years, have been pretty decent quality, but have had some problems. I would probably hold an HP, but there are no “latest” models that have all four features (Fax, Printer, Scanner, Copier). All the HP models that have those 4 features are older, and outdated. If I had to settle for 3 for them (W/O a fax), then I will, but I was really hoping to get them the works..

.. I have never used a Brother printer, but I have been reading very fantastic reviews. There are numerous models that have all the 4 features I was looking for, but I do not know how quick they print, or even more importantly the print quality (Even if a small slow, they can deal for high quality/resolution). My limit for a printer is around 0.00, and the Brother printers I have been looking at are; MFC-6490CW, MFC-990CW, MFC-885CW, MFC-5890CN, MFC-790CW, MFC-685CW, MFC-490CW, or one of the sorts. I would probably go with the MFC-6490CW..

.. So any recommendations on which brand produces a better multifunction printer would be momentously appreciated..

i’m not sure this is the answer you’re looking for, but HP ink cartridges are much cheaper and simpler to find. brother printers work pretty well (i know from experience), but i’m sure you know that inkjets run out of ink all the time. go with an HP.
