Since you are apparently traditional with the term “ghost”, how are you not traditional with Symantec Ghost?

Does the warranty cover this?

.

I just bought a Toshiba Mini-notebook.

The computer was plugged in, and I went to go it. I stepped on the cord without looking, and the device was ripped from my hands, colliding with the floor and breaking the screen.

I have the International Limited Warranty, but upon reading it over, I was quickly confused and did not find the answer I was looking for.

Does the warranty take in the repairs for the product when the hurt was accidental?

Best answer:

Answer by Grimy N
unless you have bought “accidental hurt warranty” from the manufacturer, this hurt wont be covered under warranty.

“accidental hurt warranty” is different from the one year manufacturer warranty which you get when you buy a new laptop.

My wife and kid both have the same model laptop with the same problem. DC power plug is loose, gets hot, and melts power plugs repeatedly.

I have identified that there are several possible actions I force take to fix this DC Power Plug problem.

1. Send to a DC Power Jack repair place for around .

http://comprehensivecomputing.net/power_jack_repair.htm

2. Buy a DC Power Jack for around and taking the laptop(s) apart and desolder and resolder the power jack.

a. Buy this jack

http://www.laptopjacks.com/view_part/Compaq-Laptop-DC-Power-Jack-CQ41716.html

b. Do this procedure

http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/category/laptop-tips-and-tricks/

3. Then I came across a 3rd explanation that this model really has a secondary board additional room with the DC Power Jack, and an alternative is to replace this board additional room, which is about .

http://cgi.ebay.com/COMPAQ-PRESARIO-M2000-DC-POWER-PORT-JACK-EXTENTION_W0QQitemZ130267601438QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item130267601438&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4%7C65%3A16%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

And looking at the picture of this additional room board, it looks like it has both male and female DC power jack and that there is another DC power jack on the main motherboard? How many jacks force go terrible here that need to be replaced?

So I’d be pleased to get advice on what is a excellent way to proceed, I have a soldering iron, and have done connect repair on desktop motherboard before but haven’t had the laptop apart, not to mention that if I screw up it is my wife and kid that are my consumer never to let me forget.

Oh and I would also be attracted if there are any folks out there with Compaq Presario M2000 that DON’T have this problem with burning up power jacks.

I am thinking this secondary power board additional room sounds like a screwy thing that may make the power connection more likely to come loose and have overheating problems…. and that the proper repair procedure force be just a small more than replacing the jack, but trying to better secure the whole assembly so it doesn’t just wobble back out of place and melt more power connectors. And that possibly DC jack both on motherboard and on additional room board force need replaced.

I appreciate advice from anyone who has been through this sort of issue with this model Compaq Presario M2000.
Based on my wife insisting on “quick action”, we took hers to “Geek Squad” and it looks like they know what needs done and will bill us 2 for it which is in line with what in found investigating on the net.
