I’ve gone through three wireless routers. The first two lasted two weeks each, then died (I couldn’t even get to the onboard webpage to check the settings, and they couldn’t be reset to defaulting condition).
The third one lasted a couple of months, then the wireless part stopped working, and I can’t get to the onboard webpage. I haven’t tried the ‘reset to defaulting’ button yet. The wired part still works going to my desktop computer, but the wireless part that serves my laptop is dead.
Why would I have such a high mortality rate for these routers?
They are the top two brands.

Sounds weird…
The FIRST thing you do when you plug one in is to goto it’s configuration page and exchange the defaulting passwords. Then you should set the security settings to be more restrictive. If you don’t, then your router is wide open for any mischevious speech kiddie to log on and exchange your settings.
Make sure your electronics are in cool, dry places.
Search for the names of these routers on the internet and see if others have had similar problems.
Excellent luck!
