My grandparents recently bought me an Acer from Ebay
I have had it since about Christmas (so obviously not very long at all)
While playing around with it I got a “Outlook Security 2012″ virus thing

since had barely anything on the computer (and I really knew nothing about this virus, it was not allowing me to open up internet browsers, let alone anything else) I chose I would try to restore it to its factory settings

it came with a Recovery Disk (well really its a 2 part thing)
I turned the computer off and stuck part 1 in

it started up and brought me to a menu that gave me the choice
to any restore it to a previous image, to factory settings, or to exist

I picked to restore it to its defaulting factory settings

it brought me to a screen that was called Acer eRecovery Management (Restore Partition)
and then it started to restore the computer

on this screen I may possibly see the source (WOP0000104ENTC01.037)
I may possibly see the Destination (Harddisk Partition1)
it showed the Speed (which was usually around 900 mb/m)
and elapsed time.. time left
and current progress.. :P

on the current progress bar
it would continue to go to 33%.. and then it sounded like the computer stopped working (since you may possibly hear the disk working.. it just got silent)
then it would come up with an ERROR after a while of doing that ..
it would go to 33% .. and then restart…. go to 33%.. and restart etc..

I tried to place in the 2nd disk during the 33% .. when it sounded like teh disk inside wasnt working

that did nothing.. it just came up with teh error again…

any help?

Forget the disks. Try pressing alt and F10 during boot. This should open the recovery management tool. Follow the instructions. If it fails, send it in.
