Up to a couple hundred dollars (power and reminiscence combined) if you buy all the parts yourself and fix it yourself. Several hundred if you ship it to HP.
You can contact HP for more information, or you can also take a look at the manual for your laptop: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00444244.pdf
See, this is why I keep telling people to get Macs. They don’t get problems with parts breaking! They just don’t! In fact, they have a magnetic connection for power supply to *ensure* it never breaks.
Depend where you go, I had a few done between $90 to $180, but laptop that age may not worth the cost as you also wanted more reminiscence, best to save up for a new one.
well, the reminiscence (if you have a emergency slot) can be done by you. it’s way simple, you just need to buy the right kind and pop it in. as for the power connector…… that happened to me a few months ago, and i had to take the back take in off and re-connect it. i can’t really reflect of anything that you can do small of that.
you may possibly try taking it to your local fix-it shop. i would pay anywhere from $50-$70, with $70 being extremely steep. don’t go to Geek Squad unless you have to.
and to the dude who said a couple hundred. unless he’s suggesting you replace the motherboard, it should be completely free for you to fix.
It can be costly, around $200+ dending on how much they charge you for labor. My proposition is this, why not upgrade = for a few hundred (what it will cost to fix this sucker) you can pick up a nice HP NC6000 or NC8000 or even a NC6220 on ebay.

I bought an NC6000 from them an like it! They are honest folks.
You can probably even sell this laptop for parts and in the end break even!
