for windows xp, get yourself pest patrol. malwarebytes should be able to get rid of it but norton is probably blocking it. adware will always keep returning since most of them are part of webpages. so unless you plan on giving up websurfing, there will always be some kind of adware on your system. you could always set malwarebytes to be active in the background if you have the retail version.

First off, you need to get rid of the existing Adware/viruses with Malwarebytes.

Download.
Install.
Update.
Run a full system scan.
Remove all infections after the scan completes.
Restart your computer.

When your current antivirus program expires, I recommend you get Symantec Norton 360. Great antivirus program. I get Norton through my ISP Comcast. Haven’t had a single virus since I reinstalled Windows a couple months ago. Also, Norton 360 also has a built in registry cleaner.
