Where can i report this person? Have you encountered similar scams?

So I got an email from someone holding this email address:buy-domains@web-name-service.com.
The email is as follows:
Hello!

We are interested in purchasing (domainname).com. I noticed that it was for sale. Please let me know your price.

Our company is investing in web projects and web names.

If you sell more domains I will review them.

Best Regards,

David Abramson

Co-owner

Web Host Clue Inc.

I hoped it was a legitimate interest so i checked out the website connected to there email address(www.web-name-service.com) and I was forwarded to a site that looked legitimate(http://www.webhostingclue.com/)

So I replied with a price for the domain name to see if this person was serious.
I then got this reply:
1500. Ok.
1. I need a professional evaluation (appraisal) from you.

It should be from an independent evaluation company. I don’t trust automated services from companies I’ve never heard about.

Without a professional evaluation we both cannot be sure in the final sale price. It will minimize the investing risks.

2. I need the evaluation service with a trademark verification. It’s important for us to know that you domain has no problems
with trademarks. Some evaluators include this option in the appraisalsal service.

I asked in the forum about reliable evaluation services. Please read this information:

http://www.forum-windows-club.com/Archive/794586031.htm

If the evaluation comes higher you can change your asking price. After you send me the professional evaluation via email (usually it takes one day to obtain it) we’ll be doing business.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

So after reading that, I was a bit uneasy, I felt it could be a scam. So i digged deeper:
First I checked out the Whois information for the forum he recommended
and it was private registration but it was just recently registered this very year.
Red Flag.
Secondly I checked the Whois info for the domain name connected to his email address and not to my surprise these were the results:
Registrant:
Frank Tschakert
12 Regent Close Saxton Road
Hohenweiden, Sachsen 06179
Germany

Registered through: GoDaddy.com, LLC (http://www.godaddy.com)
Domain Name: WEB-NAME-SERVICE.COM
Created on: 11-Apr-12
Expires on: 11-Apr-13
Last Updated on: 11-Apr-12

Administrative Contact:
Tschakert, Frank dntrader@hotmail.com
12 Regent Close Saxton Road
Hohenweiden, Sachsen 06179
Germany
0-148-265-4490

Now, somebody seemed to have forgot private registration this time-So this Whois says the identity of the person sending me the email is not:
Best Regards,

David Abramson

Co-owner

Web Host Clue Inc.

But a German named Frank.

And Im am sure the owner of www.webhostingclue.com where Franks email is forwarded to does not know frank.

Registrant:webhostingclue.com
Yin Cai
Unit 2008, 22/F, Wu Chung House
213 Queen’s Road East, Wanchai
HongKong, HongKong 510098
Hong Kong

On top of this- Franks so called web address- was registered this past April. Wow I have so much confidence getting an appraisal for this dude.

I am running a start up business but have the cheesy email service that comes with the free hosting I have. I wanted to know if anybody knows of any free business email hosting services. I am expanding my company and want to be able to issue email addresses to my employees (right now I have 10 employees but only have 5 emails I can give out)
Here’s what I would want:
-Decent storage
-50 or more MB attachment size
-10 or more email accounts (unlimited preferred)
-Easy to use control panel
-Ability to use MS Exchange server to access email on the go (optional)
Thanks again.
I already have a domain name. Its registered through GoDaddy. All I would need is a separate free business email client. GoDaddy allows me to configure ths email servers to any server that I am affiliated with.

Best answer:

Answer by Smelly Cat
You should really invest in a domain name and hosting at a hosting company like hostgator. Then you can have all the email addresses you want and generally plenty of space.

Free= you get what you pay for, and you run the risk of a free company going away altogether. Not good from a business standpoint.

Best answer:

Answer by jakob m
Try E-mail Recovery
Despite all its commendable accomplishments and efficiency in handling humongous amounts of work; computer systems can often fail to deliver the desired performance owing to any internal malfunction or formatting or any clean up being done post a virus attack. Official e-mail accounts are likely to lose out e-mails and valuable official e-mails in case of any of the aforesaid activities. Official e-mails can contain critical announcements and process details which may land you in a soup if missed out hence a proper recovery program is necessary to enable restoration of all e-mails that are of grave importance. E-mail Recovery is an application that provides full proof recovery for the e-mails that are lost under major scenarios of loss and destruction.

To allow POP3 to authenticate using standard POP3 you must change teh authentication level as per:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124498.aspx

The default setting is “SecureLogon”. Below are the various settings:

This example allows Basic authentication on an unsecured port if you won’t be using TLS encryption.

Set-PopSettings -LoginType PlainTextLogin
This example restricts Basic authentication to use only secured ports if you won’t be using TLS encryption.

Set-PopSettings -LoginType PlainTextAuthentication
This example allows authentication after you use TLS encryption.

Set-PopSettings -LoginType SecureLogin

If you configure use PlainTextLogin users can send their Active Directory password over the internet unencrypted.

If you plan on not using TLS, I always recommend using PlainTextAuthentication which allows users to send the password over the internet without using TLS. This however does require your users configuring “Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)” under Outlook.

After you change your Pop settings your users will now be able to authenticate over TCP110.

After investigating I found the problem was with Exchange Web Services in the web.config file located under:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\exchweb\ews

This particular client had an F5 Load Balancer and required that SSL Offloading was configured in the Exchange environment. We had followed Microsoft’s instructions for configuring SSL offloading on Exchange 2010 which are documented here:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1267.how-to-configure-ssl-offloading-in-exchange-2010-en-us.aspx

This article instructs customers to do a find and replace on the EWS web.config file to replace all instances of “httpsTransport” with “httpTransport”. However as of Exchange 2010 SP1 the web.config file contains both the httpTransport and httpsTransport settings in the XML configuration file so this is no longer required.

I went back and changed the httpTransport occurances to httpsTransport to ensure the config file accomodated both HTTP and HTTPS.
