So I got an email from someone holding this email address:buy-domains@web-name-service.com.
The email is as follows:
Hello!

We are interested in purchasing (domainname).com. I noticed that it was for sale. Please let me know your price.

Our company is investing in web projects and web names.

If you sell more domains I will review them.

I hoped it was a legitimate interest so i checked out the website connected to there email address(www.web-name-service.com) and I was forwarded to a site that looked legitimate(http://www.webhostingclue.com/)

So I replied with a price for the domain name to see if this person was serious.
I then got this reply:
1500. Ok.
1. I need a professional evaluation (appraisal) from you.

It should be from an independent evaluation company. I don’t trust automated services from companies I’ve never heard about.

Without a professional evaluation we both cannot be sure in the final sale price. It will minimize the investing risks.

2. I need the evaluation service with a trademark verification. It’s important for us to know that you domain has no problems
with trademarks. Some evaluators include this option in the appraisalsal service.

I asked in the forum about reliable evaluation services. Please read this information:

If the evaluation comes higher you can change your asking price. After you send me the professional evaluation via email (usually it takes one day to obtain it) we’ll be doing business.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

So after reading that, I was a bit uneasy, I felt it could be a scam. So i digged deeper:
First I checked out the Whois information for the forum he recommended
and it was private registration but it was just recently registered this very year.
Red Flag.
Secondly I checked the Whois info for the domain name connected to his email address and not to my surprise these were the results:

And Im am sure the owner of www.webhostingclue.com where Franks email is forwarded to does not know frank.

You should really invest in a domain name and hosting at a hosting company like hostgator. Then you can have all the email addresses you want and generally plenty of space.

Free= you get what you pay for, and you run the risk of a free company going away altogether. Not good from a business standpoint.

Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your e-mail server rejected your user name.  Verify your user name for this account in Account Settings.  The server responded: -ERR Command is not valid in this state.

After you change your Pop settings your users will now be able to authenticate over TCP110.

After investigating I found the problem was with Exchange Web Services in the web.config file located under:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\exchweb\ews

This particular client had an F5 Load Balancer and required that SSL Offloading was configured in the Exchange environment.  We had followed Microsoft’s instructions for configuring SSL offloading on Exchange 2010 which are documented here:

This article instructs customers to do a find and replace on the EWS web.config file to replace all instances of “httpsTransport” with “httpTransport”.  However as of Exchange 2010 SP1 the web.config file contains both the httpTransport and httpsTransport settings in the XML configuration file so this is no longer required.

I went back and changed the httpTransport occurances to httpsTransport to ensure the config file accomodated both HTTP and HTTPS.

solution 1: upgrade your Yahoo email, which cost you /yr.

solution 2: find another emai service which has the the archive capability, and forward the email you want to archive to that mail box.

solution 3: use Outlook express to download the email to your hard drive.

Check out Smarsh. They have the details on their cloud email archiving product on their website. It doesn’t look like they list pricing on the site, though.
