Which sort of memory-storage device available on the marketplace (Retail or Internet) should I use to store (make backups) of my 500GB hard drive?

Best answer:

Answer by avomatic
The easyest method would be to purchase a 500gb usb drive, they usually include backup utilities that will backup your system in the background. you can also consider online backup like carbonite.

I have run scans with malware bytes and superantispyware and avira in safe mode all dont detect anything. It was working ok until windows updates began to try and install. is there anyway i can rectify this thanks in advance
The new hard drive was a spare one that i had that i used for back ups etc

Best answer:

Answer by Fola
Probably they installed an older problematic drive,go back there and tell them the problem. You can download a drive diagnostic utility and check how many hours/days the drive is running so you can tell if the drive is new or old.

I had put my computer on standby (running XP) for sometime with my hard disk plugged in and utorrent running. When I turned it back on the hard disk started making weird noises and then the computer stopped detecting it…. I had this hard disk for LESS THAN A MONTH and have valuable data on it.

I have the purchase bills but I’d rather have my data back than exchange it for a new hard disk.
PLEASE HELP.
I tried a bit of data recovery software but in that just the name of the hard disk shows up.. the hard disk continues to makes noises and then the whole computer freezes up. :/
