actually the recovery disk are created by the pc itself so now you can get them from toshiba store. they can be ordered online on their website. i guess they cost .

you shouldnt have to buy a new recovery set if your laptop is fairly new. . look under Recovery Media Creator. you should be able to burn your own set using that. just got to the dollar store, get a cheap pack of dvd disks and use those to burn your set. thats what i used to make my set and I had to use my recovery media already.

Oh, yeah…I bought it new in 2008.

No. When you buy a new hard drive there will be nothing on it. You got to format and install something on it.

The CD recovery basically also include is registered for certain computer so I’m afraid you can’t do that because even though you can install it, Windows Genuine Validation Tools will challenge you and consider you use pirated OS

If there’s a failure in the disk, the best thing to do is take it to the store from where you bought it, especially if its still under warranty. You can also try fixing it by making a bootable cd using the HDD Regenerator software. It is pretty good at recovering bad sectors. However, if its still n warranty, its always better to take it to where you bought it from.
