What I think you have done is the creation of a disk image that was created on the external hard disk. To use this image, you need to have a recovery disk that will boot the computer and allow you to locate the image on the external hard drive and then have that image re-installed on the computer’s hard drive.

You may be able to create this recovery disk from the Backup and Restore area of the Control Panel and have it access the external hard drive on boot-up of the computer.

If your Toshiba is like mine, you will have to press F12 on boot to get to a boot menu, then select the CD/DVD drive, insert your recovery disk and with the external hard drive connected, boot your computer from the CD/DVD drive. Then you will have to correctly identify the disk image on the external drive and the recovery disk should re-install the image on the computer hard drive.

If your original was 32 bit and you are now using 64 bit Windows, the 64 bit recovery disk will not likely work with the disk image if it was of a 32 bit installation. The reverse is also true.

If you have formatted you HDD by yourself (specially if you tried to do any change in partitions) I have to inform you there is High possibility that the recovery partition is lost so you must not ask for it any more.
But note that the recovery partition do not contains all the recovery data but the instruction for computer to use the recovery data on your recovery DVDs so still you might have a chance to use them but the best help could be the support team in Toshiba itself

Look for a user guide/manual for your laptop or download it by model number from Toshiba support and read the section on using the webcam. The webcam should be in all programs, click accessories, click camera, printers, fax, scanner.
In your start menu, type “camera” into the start search box. “Camera Assistant Software” will probably be the first choice on the list. Click on it. The little camera tab should appear on the edge of your display. Click on the start camera icon.

I took my acer laptop (had a cracked screen) and my daughter’s toshiba laptop ( had some virus issues) to this place in Monterey Park called eztek , u can call 323-889-1985 or go to eztek.webs.com , they fixed my screen for around 0 and my daughters laptop was fixed for around 70 including fresh windows installation plus antivirus and everything, her laptop was so much faster after that. I asked around and I was quoted around 0 for the screen and 0 something for the virus thing w complet windows install and backing up my daughter’s pictures and homework files. eztek did all that for , they did a great job and I will go there again if needed.Not only they were charging less, also something super important to me wasthat the quality of the repair and the knowledge of their techs was beyound many other places I used to go and deal with.. I have also sent a few of my coworkers and they all were happy with the service. Good luck.

actually the recovery disk are created by the pc itself so now you can get them from toshiba store. they can be ordered online on their website. i guess they cost .
