I’m having the same problem but mine wont let me open anything that connects to internet says its “infected” I managed to get avast installed before it did that but it gets to 99% and then the virus shuts my computer down so I have no way to download anything and its a netbook with no CD rom drive >.<

Ok, Do the following to get rid of Desktop Defender 2010. (Note, Desktop Defender 2010 is a rogue security program from the Contraviro family. When installed this program will be configured to start involuntarily when Windows starts and will then make fake malware files that will be detected during the program’s scans. Desktop Defender 2010 will not, even if, remove any files that it states are malware in anticipation of you first hold the program. In reality, the scan consequences from this program are fake and Desktop Defender 2010 is not really result any infections. Instead it displays the same scan consequences regardless of the computer that is run on.)
Reboot the infected computer, when the computer reboot login if you need to.
You will now be at the ransom screen where Desktop Defender states that your computer is carriage out SPAM messages.
You should now press the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete buttons on your computer at the same time. Do this by first pressing the Ctrl key, and holding it down, then the Alt key, and holding it down, and then finally press the the Delete key. So you should have Alt and Ctrl held down at the same time before pressing the Delete button on your keyboard.
The Windows Task Administrator should now come up on your screen.
Click on the Processes tab.
You will now be at the Processes tab of the Task Administrator.
Make sure there is a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Show processes from all users and then look through the list of running processes. When you find the process named Desktop Defender 2010.exe, click once on it to select. Then click on the End Process button to terminate it.
An alert will be showed asking if you are sure you want to terminate this process. Delight click on the Yes button.
The Desktop Defender alert will now be gone and you will be at a blank screen with the Task Administrator still open. On the Task Administrator, click on the File menu option and then select New Task (Run…).
When the Make New Task box opens, type explorer in the Open: field and then press the OK button. The Windows desktop will now appear and you can close the Task Administrator.
Now that you are at your desktop, download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware, or MBAM, from the following location and save it to your desktop:

Once downloaded, close all programs and Windows on your computer, including this one.
Double-click on the icon on your desktop named mbam-setup.exe. This will start the installation of MBAM onto your computer.
When the installation starts, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. Do not make any changes to defaulting settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure you leave both the Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware check. Then click on the End button.
MBAM will now involuntarily start and you will see a message stating that you should update the program before performing a scan. As MBAM will involuntarily update itself after the install, you can press the OK button to close that box and you will now be at the main program as shown not more than.
On the Scanner tab, make sure the the Perform quick scan option is selected and then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer for Desktop Defender 2010 related files.
MBAM will now start scanning your computer for malware. This process can take reasonably a while, so we suggest you go and do something else and periodically check on the status of the scan.
When the scan is finished a message box will appear.
You should click on the OK button to close the message box and continue with the Desktop Defender 2010 removal process.
You will now be back at the main Scanner screen. At this top you should click on the Show Consequences button.

You should now click on the Remove Selected button to remove all the listed malware. MBAM will now delete all of the files and registry keys and add them to the programs quarantine. When removing the files, MBAM may require a reboot in order to remove some of them. If it displays a message stating that it needs to reboot, delight allow it to do so. Once your computer has rebooted, and you are logged in, delight continue with the rest of the steps.
When MBAM has finished removing the malware, it will open the scan log and show it in Notepad. Review the log as desired, and then close the Notepad window.
You can now exit the MBAM program.
