It doesn’t remove but it does tell you step-by-step how to do it yourself. This is how I learned how/where these different critters get installed. Now, I know what to look for to remove others if they show.
If you follow the steps, you won’t hurt the registry. Besides…Just back it up if you dread the registry.

You’ve just answered the question yourself.
Go to MSconfig under Start –> Run. Follow the tabs to Services and Startup. I reccomend to DISABLE ALL ITEMS UNDER STARTUP. Then reboot your system and do a scan.
Otherwise, slave the drive up to another machine and scan it as a slave.
