kaspersky or bitdefender
If you don’t have an anti-virus you are pretty unlucky … That virus is a pretty perilous one and the best method would be to buy an anti-virus (i would suggest Kaspersky) or if you want a free one try AVG 8 or Avira
The best amalgamation is excellent antispyware *and* a excellent antivirus programs.
I suggest to my clients AVG Free Journal (or paid if they so opt), and ONE of any Malware Bytes or Super Anti Spyware. Download and update AVG and the antispyware program you choose, and… now here’s the vital thing…
Do a FULL scan and ensure that both programs scan EVERY file. Not just “infectable files” – EVERY computer file is infectable.
You should be done. You may wish to try cCleaner next to fix any registry issues they left behind… like my other software suggestions above, it is entirely free to use.
If both of those cannot clean your system of viruses and spyware, then you have two remaining option:
(1) take it so a pro
or
(2) back up the data files you need (pics, word docs, game save files, composition, etc), and restore your system. Your laptop any came with restore disks or has a restore partition.
WARNING: Doing a System Restore will in most cases wipe your machine back to the way it was when it came out the factory (hence the backup instructions above).
Once restored, re-install the antivirus and antispyware programs, reinstall any additional programs you installed since you bought the machine (yep, time for some disk digging), then connect your backup device (the one you backed up your pics, composition, etc to) and FULLY SCAN IT before you copy your ID back. Delete any remaining infected files (by the AV/AS software), and then restore your ID.
