Also, my Windows OneCare failed recently so I gotta get some new protection, would you recommend this amalgamation?
Spyware: Spybot Search and End
Anti-virus: AVG anti virus (free version)
Firewall: Zonealarm
Will these work well together?

Norton Internet Security 2007, it covers the lot, from spyware, virus, ad-aware.. and most importantly a Firewall .
AVG antivirus
AVG anitspyware
Windows firewall
I have had no problems
go to link not more than for more choices
I have AVG A-V and AVG A-S and a windows xp firewall and a NATS system on my DSL router and yes they will but AVG also has an anti-spyware program too.
Just use McAfee have been by it for years.
Free versions aren’t as excellent
I’m by Norton 360.
It is a lot better than everyone says it is and providing you have a reasonable spec computer, it makes no difference to performance, in fact my computer is preforming better since I got it.
Its spy ware, anti-virus and a firewall all in one.
Certainly recommended.
First and foremost if you are by Yahoo toolbars, get rid of them as well as yahoo messenger. For protection i would go with CA.
I use AVG anti virus
ad-aware anti spyware
and windows XP firewall
ALL FREE and 0 problems 2 years running.
I have heard many comments about ZoneAlarm slowing down your computer. But since I don’t use it, I don’t know that for sure. But, I use Avast 4-Home for antivirus, and SpyBot and Ad-Aware for spyware and adware. I also run Window’s firewall. I’ve not had a successful virus in over 4 years by Avast; I run Ad-Aware daily and SpyBot weekly and keep problems to a minimum.
AVG 7.5 (free version) and SpyBot will work fine together, but add Ad-Aware to get the things SpyBot doesn’t. Be sure to immunize your computer in SpyBot before you run the first bot check, and keep your definitions up to date.
Possibly so, but I suggest get Bitdefender 10 Antivirus Plus. It has antivirus, anti-spyware, and firewall all in one package. That is, if you can buy it.
i use spybot s&d, AVG free with Zonealarm firewall it works fine. if u dont want zonealarm try comodo firewall.
Firewall: Norton Internet Security. I like this because it’s simple to use in a peer to peer ICS environment.
Anti-virus: Active Virus Buffer (Kaspersky/AOL). I’ve only really started by this because I was sick of AVG free let some Trojans past.
Spyware: Spybot. I don’t particularly reflect this is the best. But it has other useful tools and features.
I like the new ZoneAlarm. It has an all-in-one deal with to the above. I also use AVGs’ anti-rootkit, to check for keyloggers.
You’ve got everything right and I use the same but instead of ZoneAlarm firewall I use Comodo and no problem at all. I can say Spybot S&D and AVG Anti Virus works fantastic and infact I would recommend you to install AVG AntiSpyware as well in addition to Antivirus to protect from Spyware and Malwares. Excellent Luck!
i use spyware doctor (antispyware), NOD32 (anti-virus) and i use no firewall, but i scan a computer regularly.
spybot is excellent, but as i’ve heard it lists some competitors software as malicious (i.e. noAdware and Spyhunter), that’s why i don’t really like spybot.
if some of your security software doesn’t try to erase the other two, then i say they are compatible
i just wonder if they don’t make your computer slow if you run all of them at the same time? you can disable the real-time monitoring on antispyware and antivirus, cos you have firewall and then your computer shouldn’t be slow. hope this helps
I see the AVG fanboys and cheerleaders are out in full force again here on Yahoo Answers!
AVG Free is crap!
Mostly noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. These types like AVG because they say it is simple to use and nearly never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!

etc. etc. etc, ad nauseam, AVG free fares poorly.
AVG has proven itself to be a miserable performer at best. Missing nearly 20%, while trying to detect known malware, in some tests. Not to mention nearly non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent “once-a day” updates.
AVG. = Average, at best!
There are much better free alternatives such as Avria Anti-Vir:

and Active Virus Buffer:
